Install not working due to PHP version issue etc? Please help!
April 17, 2014, 11:05:28 am
So I"m trying to install CiviCRM for wordpress today as a test but it wont install. Says I need a more current version of PHP.

But my hosting company says if I install a more current version of PHP scripts on my older websites might break and no longer work.

"PHP5 installed   You need PHP version 5.3.3 or later, only 5.2.17 is installed. Please upgrade your server, or ask your web-host to do so."

Same thing with Mysql version says I need 5.1 and only have 5.0.
Might this cause previous scripts to break also?

Is the wordpress installation always this difficult?

Once I get this install figured out are there video tutorials to help me configure it?

Thanks
Joseph

the php version u have installed is probably 4+ years old. might want to move onto something more recent

Might be easier to get an account and test civi on something like civihosting: https://civicrm.org/providers/hosting

if you want to stay with those php/mysql versions, you might want to search for other more suitable alternatives

Thank you. I'm upgrading to 5.3 from 5.2x hopefully this wont break any of my other sites in the process.
If it doesnt work I'll check out other hosting options thanks again Mr Lobo.
