CiviCRM Broken after SSL Updated
April 17, 2014, 03:11:41 pm
We installed CiviCRM on our website a couple of months ago, and things have been working fine until this past week.  Our last online contribution was 4/11/14 at 9:30 in the morning.  At some point after that, the system went down.

Clicking a link on our page for an online donation page leads to a database not found error.

Doing a search for contributions on the backend always gives no results.

Some of the admin functions under the administrator menu leads to a database not found error.

I managed to manually turn off SSL and found that our donation pages would then load.  Additionally, some of the admin functions came back, although the search feature still did not work.

I have been working with siteground (our host company) and they say that there is no problem with the SSL certificate (it was updated after heartbleed came out, and new certificate keys were installed.  The tech says it looks like there are some files missing or a problem with the code, and he can help us restore the site back to a point in time when it was functioning.

Does anyone have any suggestions OTHER than this?  It seems too coincidental to not be related to their SSL update, but I don't know the right questions to ask to get this taken care of.

Any help would be appreciated.

Brian.

After a day of searching, our host finally determined that a module had been installed on our Joomla account that did not support SSL.  Removing this module solved all our problems.  The timing was unfortunate, as it occurred right at the same time as the Heartbleed, but it is now obvious that it is unrelated.
