Standard Import
April 22, 2014, 01:52:29 pm
So i am attempting to import contacts into civicrm and i started by importing a list of email addresses in drupal. Once i have those imported i am using import contacts inside of civicrm to put the contacts in. When i import contacts it creates contact records but does not match the users to the drupal users that i imported. I have attempted to use a few different dedupe rules that only use email address to match to the contact but i get the same result every time. Am i completing these steps correctly to import users?

that does not help. that basically back-fills people that are in drupal that are not in civicrm. i need it to do the opposite. When i import people into civicrm it should create a user account for them in drupal.

Hi Mike,

You may want to start by rewriting the initial post - it's a bit difficult to follow what you're doing and what you're trying to accomplish.

If I understand correctly what's going on, I think you can accomplish what you want by importing contacts first into CiviCRM, then creating the user accounts in Drupal second.

Have you seen this page?  http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Creating+a+Drupal+user+for+every+CiviCRM+contact

Alternatively, if you have an ongoing need to do this, you should look at https://civicrm.org/blogs/petednz/creating-drupal-users-made-easy-single-or-multiple-contacts-civi-imports-and-webforms.

The link above that Joanne provided uses Drupal Rules based on a civi Tag that you can add during import - and it then does the required.

Another approach that would be worth exploring since Eileen's work with civi entities and VBO would be using VBO to find the civi contacts you want to add Drupal Users for, and then use a VBO action
