Custom forms for entering new members of our organisation
April 27, 2014, 01:34:10 pm
Hi, I am trying to figure out how to use CiviCRM for our organisation and first need to make custom entry forms for our staff to enter new members. This operation has to be very simple to understand, so I figured out how to create Profiles and add them to a Wordpress page with shortcodes.

However, how do I make it possible to assign the membership type when creating a new contact/member with such a profile form?

Creating the profile will not create the membership type.

You can create the profile and the membership at the same time by creating a membership contribution page that includes the profiles you need completed.

The page does not need to require payment.

You can then use the link to get the individual to sign up to the Wordpress site, at the same time creating a Contact record and membership profile.

You need to ensure the permissions have all been set correctly for anonymous users to access the relevant pages.

If you would consider a radical idea, the Webform CiviCRM Integration Drupal module would work excellently for this purpose with no customization and right out of the box.  For any workflow beyond the "we need a CRM with donation and event pages" I always recommend Drupal because of its power and flexibility.

Don't hate me, but consider switching to Drupal.  My civiteacher.com video service has a series of instructional videos about this and other topics.
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.
