Contact Display Name Format is not being applied
April 28, 2014, 07:14:05 am
We have recently upgraded to 4.4.4 and started noticing some display issues with the Contact Display Name field.
Currently it appears to be random  :-\

Previous to the upgrade, a contact's record would contain individual prefix first name last name at the top of the page. For example, Dr. David Fraser. Now, after the upgrade this appears as first name last name. For example, David Fraser. This affects everywhere where display name is used, including on exports.

I have checked the Individual Display Name Format in Display Preferences. This is correct.

Any ideas?

Update:
When I changed the value of the individual prefix in the contact record and saved, the new value was applied.

There are around 2000 records that are impacted.

Does anyone know if running a SQL script to update these records would work?

Another update!
Exported all individual records to csv, containing the Sort Name, Display Name and Individual Prefix fields. The entire individual prefix column is empty?!

Don't know where I can go from here...

There is a background job for updating the greetings probably this would also update the display name and sort name. You could try to run this job manually and see if it fixes your problem.

You can find this job by administer --> System settings --> backrgound jobs

Thanks. Executed the job with no effect :(
Confused ??? as to why the export of the individual prefix is empty.

Updating every record one at a time would probably take forever. I'm guessing that something occurred during the upgrade process and wasn't noticed until now.

I am currently in the process of updating 100 records at a time by using batch update using profile. Saving the resulting page updates all the prefixes correctly. For now, that'll do. Still have to understand why the individual prefix column, when exported is blank.

Thanks

Are the prefixes still missing from an export for the records you have fixed?

After updating around half of the contacts using batch update, I exported all our individual contact records including the individual prefix column

There is nothing exported for the individual prefix field, yet it appears that the display name was updated. Checking in the database, the prefix_id column contains what appears to be correct information...

Thanks

https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-14259

you might want to upgrade to 4.4.5 and confirm the fix works
