i think there are two aspects of this:

a. making profiles more powerful with batch actions

b. making search more customizable via permissions

if we keep the restrictions that profiles are a simple view/edit/list for a large set of users including anon users and are used in lots of places, i think going for option b makes more sense

if we do add actions to profiles, u'll still need to add permissioning etc

can u describe the use case a bit more

Thanks Lobo for your thoughts.

Our use case is like As Manager I want to perform some mass action on profile data. Actions like Send Email, Add to group etc.
I have some custom fields in Profile for individual, contacts . I want to perform search on that fields and perform mass actions on the search result.

any reason why you dont want to expose search or custom search to the manager? seems a lot easier

In advance search lots of filters available so manager may confused and we want only some custom fields added in profile to be available on search. I have suggested the custom search solution instead of profile search to client and Implemented custom search.

IMO profile search mass action will be good addition to profile search functionality. Needs to do more research to find best implementation for same.
