Naive new user question - how do I get contribution pages to display in WordPres
May 01, 2014, 07:57:01 am
I'm a new CiviCRM user (though fairly experienced software engineer).  I have just installed the CiviCRM Wordpress plugin on a new web site we're developing.

I have got it all going an initially configured.

I have entered two membership types and have created a Contribution Page for one of them.

However I really, really can't work out how to actually get to see the Contribution Page.  It's certainly saved OK, I can go back and edit it in the CiviCRM "Manage Contribution Pages".

So, please, how do I publish this new page?

There are 2 ways
1 - follow the link at the top of the "manage contribution form"
2 - embed the contribution form in a wordpress page or post. You can do this by clicking the civicrm button (next to the "insert image" button) when editing a post.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Thanks.

However when I include the CiviCRM link by editing a WordPress page I get the (rather familiar) error:-

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/yleadj/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/header.php:13) in /home/yleadj/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Utils/System.php on line 361

Are you using a custom theme?  I've noticed more often in WordPress than in Drupal a custom theme will interfere with CiviCRM.  Try the TwentyTwelve (or Thirteen, Fourteen) them that comes default with WordPress.  Does this work?
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

I had this error message too.

That CiviCRM button inserts a Contribution form with id="null".  I changed the id to match the id of the Contribution Form and it works.

To find manage contribution forms you go to your wordpress dashboard, CiviCRM, Administer, CiviContribute, Manage Contribution Forms

So much to learn...
