Payment processor - when they don't want you to see their login info
May 01, 2014, 06:51:21 pm
So, here's a question which may seem kind of odd. I'm setting up a website for an organization which is fiscally sponsored by a incubator-type organization. In order to maintain 501c3 status, all payments will have to go through the incubator organization. They have said they would provide the code for embedding a "contribute on paypal" widget, and going that route that wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'd much rather set  up all payments through civicontribute and easily gather all the data that allows us to gather. The hitch is that I doubt they want to share their paypal login info with me.

This is sort of a preemptive question, because I haven't yet had a chance to learn what their parameters are, but I thought I'd see what options other people have figured out that I might be able to suggest when I meet with them. Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas or workarounds for me? Perhaps there is some way to allow them a login with the ability to access payment processor settings while I can't, or even just make the password display as circles and have them set it in person? I'd love to hear any thoughts.

FrTommy

They can go into Paypal and set up a user and give that user whatever access levels is necessary for them to process payments. That username and password is provided to you.
