Wordpress vs. Drupal Performance
May 05, 2014, 06:31:04 am
I've spent two weeks customizing and importing records into a Wordpress install of CiviCRM.  In the last few days, the CiviCRM has become slow and nearly unusable.  I've searched and read numerous posts and forums about changing search preferences etc but my problem is not just isolated to searching.  The entire site seems bogged down.

We have a relatively small database to maintain with approximately 650 individuals, 150 organizations, and 1000 contribution records (I've not imported the contributions yet).

My question:  Would it benefit me to go through the process of changing my site to a Drupal install to gain speed/performance or would that not be a good investment of my time?

I am also contacting my hosting provider and ask them about my site performance.

Thanks in advance for any advice or comments...

whos your hosting provider?

i suspect a good investment of your time might be to switch to a better hosting provider. check:

Dreamhost - They provide free hosting for 501(c)3 organizations so we've been with them for years now.

I'm currently having them review my site performance which just recently went from good to bad.

Do you think the Drupal platform is a better option for performance?

Thanks

Can someone tell me which hosting provider is hosting the Wordpress CiviCRM demo site?

That site is incredibly fast and I'm jealous... :)

Just received word back from my hosting provider.  They were experiencing an issue on the server and it has now been rebooted and the site is really quick again!

Thanks....

To answer this question, for future reference, I do not see any reason to suggest Drupal would be faster. In fact, some studies concluded that WordPress is faster.

Thanks for the response... Much appreciated...

Once my hosting provider checked my site, they were able to resolve the problem and it is responding very quickly.

Thanks again...

I think having 202 contacts helps. I find having lots of donors is a real drag on our customer's systems. Oddly none of them were keen to replace their data with the CiviCRM data set & enjoy the performance boost :-)
