WordPress user account registration doesn't work
May 05, 2014, 09:19:41 am
I've set up a Membership Signup and Renewal form in CiviContribute. I added the Name and Address profile to the form and in the Advanced Settings I tried both of the last two options below:

WordPress user account registration option?
  • No account create option
  • Give option, but not required
  • Account creation required
But I never see the option on the form, and a WordPress user account is never created. No password field, etc. What am I missing or doing wrong?  ???

If I try just a Name and Address form by itself, after submitting I get this error:

Warning: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /hsphere/local/home/[...]/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Permission.php on line 262

Hi Wes,

This is probably obvious, but since I've been caught out by a similar mistake myself - make sure you're not viewing the page while logged in!  Make sure to open a separate browser session where you're anonymous to the site.

Thank you for the reminder JonGold, but that's not it. I wish it was that simple.  :(

Re: WordPress user account registration doesn't work [SOLVED]

OK, it turns out it was something simple. You have to go to WordPress Settings > General and select Membership: Anyone can register. Also, I believe you need to add a Primary Email Address field to the Name and Address profile in Civi.

There is precious little about WordPress implementation in the Civi documentation. I actually made an attempt to update the documentation myself, but there were so many barriers that I gave up (e.g., more than one manual, multiple versions, different login required). If you want people to contribute, make it easier!
