PHP Error message on install
May 07, 2014, 06:45:36 am
When I go to Settings and Click CiviCRM install I get this error:

Warning: include(/home/npaorg/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/install/index.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/npaorg/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm.php on line 560

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/npaorg/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/install/index.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/npaorg/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm.php on line 560

Can you assist.

Thanks,

Mark

Is the file /home/npaorg/public_html/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/install/index.php on your server?

Well, yes, that would certainly be a good idea.  :P ??? I guess I had FTP client issues and just assumed that all the files had gotten there. Thank you for helping me with that, because I often miss the obvious. Much appreciated.

Now I have an installation screen but more questions to be answered. Actually 2.

First in a blinding red color is a message about not being able to find or create a database. And there is something about MySQL InnoDB needing to be supported on the server. Is that something I have to contact my host about? Does the installation create its own database? Can I do that manually? Does it use a different database from the one WP uses?

Secondly it wants the following directory to be writeable: /home/npaorg/public_html/wp-content/plugins/files. However, that directory does not exist. Should I create it?

Finally, there was a problem with PHP version. I use HostGator shared hosting and I learned that they maintain two servers with two different PHP versions, probably for legacy sites and applications. I have found that with Joomla and now with WordPress that if you add this to the .htaccess file you can get away with that version objection:
# Use PHP 5.3
AddType application/x-httpd-php53 .php

Hopefully that helps HostGator users.

Looking forward to your response.

All the best,

Mark

Yes, ask your host about InnoDB support as this is required. On my hosts you create the DB yourself, manually, and it's recommended to use a different one than WordPress, yes.

OK, that worked great. Of course, the first thing it wanted to do was update to the latest version. Anyway it's all good.

Thanks,

Mark
