Just a thought....

Have you thought of adding a public page that would show a list of the current volunteer opportunities available?

It would show the event title and date and then underneath list the Volunteer Roles and number needed with a button to click to volunteer for that event.

That sort of listing would be beneficial for my use case as a Church.  We don't have the experience to do it but would be willing to contribute financially to help make it happen.

Hi, there.

Surprisingly, you're maybe only the second person to request this functionality. I think it's kind of an obvious need, and I think this would be a great addition to the module.

Your offer to fund the development is much appreciated. I have some ideas about how this might look, but it would be great to get some input from you about what would best serve your community's needs. Even a scan or photo of a hand-drawn sketch would be useful.

I just started looking at CiviVolunteer, and saw that an opportunities page was missing.   The attached screenshot from SignupGenius shows their all-in-one display, with roles, names of volunteers and number of slots remaining together.  I  don't know whether this is possible, but it would be nice.

Thanks for sharing this screenshot, robinhood. With appropriate funding, anything is possible. :)

I have a few questions and some feedback on this image. It's hard to tell from the partial screenshot -- is this a listing of volunteer opportunities for a single event or project, or is this a list of all upcoming volunteer projects?

I like that you can see all the opportunities without having to open up any select lists. I also like that you can sign up for multiple shifts at once. CiviVolunteer doesn't really do that right now.

I'm not sure about the organization of the opportunities; CiviVolunteer presently sorts by role, which I guess assumes people are more interested in what they'll be doing than when they'll be doing it. I think my brain works that way, but it may differ depending on the type of volunteer organization you are. Thoughts?

Maybe I'm too much of a privacy guy, and I guess it could be configurable, but I don't like that volunteers' names are published on a public website. Also, I question the value of taking up space with roles that are already filled -- declutter the screen and show me what's still available.

It is for a project that takes place over 3 days with a series of events on each day.  The complete page is here. I think it is easy to use.

I agree about hiding the names of volunteers for privacy, FWIIW.

Organization by time slot first makes sense for a bunch of low-skill, low-commitment jobs like we have.  People are willing to be there to help and may not feel strongly about ushering vs selling hot dogs.  Maybe you will get a different answer for other situations.

We would also be interested in this functionality.  We have a number of short and rapidly changing events so creating event pages for each one in order to show the 'volunteer Now' button is time consuming.  It would be great to have a single page that allowed to show opportunities by type, by date, by event.  I would be happy to consider financial help or testing

I am new to CiviCRM completely, and still evaluating it and related tools.  This feature request about nail my biggest need for what I am trying to do.  I would like to know if this ever took off.

We'll be starting a new scope of work in the next month or two which I think will address this feature request. (The project scope is still a little fuzzy.)

In the meantime, you could create a custom listing of upcoming volunteer opportunities using Drupal Views.
