Remove credit card input from contribute page
May 10, 2014, 06:07:07 pm
I'm running CiviCRM 4.4.5 on WordPress 3.9.1

I only have one payment processor (PayPal) installed, and no credit cards enabled.

On contribute/transact forms, a credit card input form automatically displays even though all cards are disabled (see image). How do I remove the form and leave only the PayPal option? Much like this forum user in 2012 - http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=25649.0 - the form does not work and I feel it will be very confusing for our (potential) members to have it there.

I found some code in "Main.php" under wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Contribute/Form/Contribution but removing it didn't help - and I'm loathe to make changes because I'm not a coder and don't want to mess things up entirely!

Thanks in advance!!

Are you using PayPal Pro or PayPal Standard for your processor? The form is usually inserted when using PayPal Pro as a processor. When using PayPal standard the user is should be directed to the PayPal site for payment when they proceed from the confirmation page.

Fab! Thanks! I thought it might be something simple but had no idea which boxes to tick (or untick). I had difficulty editing the processor to the 'standard' one (it just kept reverting back) and so ended up creating a new payment processor and then deleting the original one.

OK so a new hurdle. When using "PayPal Standard," there is no option for a user to enter credit card details, i.e., they must use a PayPal account. We have a lot of people who want to become members and pay via credit card but who don't want to sign up to PayPal.

So is there a way of disabling the credit card form appearing on the main page but still using PayPal Pro? The credit card form just never works - it keeps giving the error message that the credit card number is invalid. Yet when you click through and pay through PayPal's screen, it works! I'd rather just not have the credit card form display on the main form.

Ideas?

It seems odd that the code which works for others to check for a valid credit card number doesn't work for you. This is standard code, widely used. Could you recheck that you have entered info correctly, including card type?
