Is it possible to import volunteer hours alongwith the volunteers from a CSV file?

Hello. You can use CiviCRM's native import features to import the volunteer contacts. From the admin menu, click Contacts > Import Contacts.

Similarly, you can import activities (which is how volunteerism is modeled) by clicking Contacts > Import Activities. You should take a look at how time is recorded on a volunteer activity created by CiviVolunteer before doing so: note that volunteer hours are stored in minutes; note which contact is used for which purpose; etc.

Unless you do a little bit of additional work, your hours will not be associated with any particular volunteer project. I think this is probably fine if all you need are the dates and the amount of time that each contact has volunteered. If it's important to track hours against a particular project, then you'll need to do a little more work.

Thank you for your reply!

I currently have a database of many volunteers who have volunteered for many activities in the past. Now I want to import their volunteer hours(converted to minutes) against each event.

Can you explain the steps for doing this? Which field is mapped against the event name during the activity import process?

Would it work to perhaps set up a Campaign for each 'event' - and then you could tag the Activities with that same Campaign and hence use that to associate the vol hours with the EVent
