Embedded contribution page not displaying in WP
May 20, 2014, 12:04:04 pm
The embedded contribution page is not displaying - can someone help me figure out why?  takeroot.org/donatenow is the page we have been testing with.  Thank you for any assistance!

There are a few things to check.

1. make a backup

2. switch to a default theme like "TwentyThirteen" and see if the page works.  If so your custom theme is the problem.

3. go into WordPress settings and find Permalink structure, set it to the default

4. go in to CiviCRM > Administer > Users > Wordpress permissions and make sure that anonymous users can "make online contribution" permission.

If it is your theme, please understand that many people get creative with the themes and code them in a non-standard way.  CiviCRM is designed to work with "by the book" WP theme coding practices and your custom theme can and should be retrofit to work with CiviCRM.
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

Thank you so much for your reply!!!!  It's not the theme (I tried it using 2014).  When I navigate to Administer > Users & Permissions > the only choices are "Permissions" and "Synchronize Users to Contacts."  There is no "Wordpress" selection option.  When I choose "Permissions" this is all that is on the page - there is nowhere to set permissions or change any options:

Access Control

ACLs (Access Control Lists) allow you control access to CiviCRM data. An ACL consists of an Operation (e.g. 'View' or 'Edit'), a set of Data that the operation can be performed on (e.g. a group of contacts), and a Role that has permission to do this operation. Refer to the Access Control Documentation for more info.
EXAMPLE: 'Team Leaders' (ACL Role) can 'Edit' (Operation) all contacts in the 'Active Volunteers Group' (Data).
CiviCRM Access Control features have not yet been implemented for WordPress installations. This means that any user with either 'Administrator' or 'Editor' role will have access to all back-office CiviCRM functionality and data.
If you are interested in sponsoring the addition of Access Control functionality for CiviCRM on WordPress, please post on the CiviCRM community forums.

There is nothing else on the page.  Thanks again for your assistance.
