Opt-out option in webform
May 22, 2014, 08:12:23 am
Hi every one,

Maybe some of you can help my.  I can't seem to found the general CiviCRM "Opt-out" in Webform for people who doesn't want to receive newsletter.
Normally in CiviCRM (contact or mail) you can found the option under "Preferred Communication Method(s)".
But in webform, I look into the "Preferred Communication Method(s)" & "Privacy Preferences", and also all around without chance.

Thanks in advance

Well there are 2 types of opt-out in CiviCRM, so CiviMail will typically generate 2 different opt-out links per message:
  • Opt-out of a single mailing group
  • Total site-wide opt-out
Webform can handle #1 quite easily and this is typically the one you want anyway as it is more fine-grained and less drastic. Just create a webform with a group selection field, and if the user is logged-in or following a hashed link then when they visit the form the box will be checked if they are in a given group. If they uncheck the box and submit the form, it will remove them.

#2 probably should be added to webform's handling of Privacy Preferences, but you're right it is not currently there.
