return-path

I'm trying to deal with the bounce management. I've followed the excellent article in the civi book. However, right now, I'm stuck and I'd really could use a hand.

I'm using postfix to send outbound mail using mail() on civicrm 4.4.2.

The mail account has:

bounce+ as localpart
bounce@mydomain as return-path

The trouble is that all sent mailing have:

List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:bounce+u.575.55511.642404dcfe55fdb8@mydomain>
Precedence: bulk
X-CiviMail-Bounce: bounce+b.575.55511.642404dcfe55fdb8@mydomain

BUT:

Return-Path: www-data@mydomain

I can't figure out why the return-path is not in the format bounce+b.575.55511.642404dcfe55fdb8@mydomain

Postfix is rewriting the origin of your email to the user account it accepted the mail from, www-data.

The easiest way to avoid this is to talk SMTP to localhost:25 (with any changes to Postfix that accepting mail on port 25 from localhost may entail). Postfix won't know which local user sent the email, so it will trust CiviCRM and set the return path accordingly.
