Smart Group By Drupal User Role
May 06, 2008, 10:50:50 am
Is it possible to create a smart group based on the Drupal user role of a contact's corresponding user?

You can create a Smart Group for all contacts who have a Drupal User Account (from Advanced Search - select "CMS User?" = Yes ...). But you can't do it by Drupal Role.

I'm remembering that there might be a synchronization mechanism between Organic Groups and Drupal Roles - if so that might be useful as you can synch OG's to CiviCRM groups using the og_synch module ???

in 2.0, you can also create a custom search that allows you to search for civicrm users by drupal role. you can save that as a smart group

Sanil, There is no correlation between Drupal Roles and CiviCRM ACL Roles. They are completely different things.

http://drupal.org/project/civimember_roles

...provides sync from CiviMember to Drupal Role, but that may not be what you want to do.

If you can write code, you could use the CiviCRM API & Drupal hooks to put a user into corresponding groups based on role.

Otherwise, you can hire a Professional Services provider to implement something with the exact features you need:
