Including class/subclass info in CiviCRM-generated IIF files
May 28, 2014, 07:28:39 pm
In the current Accounting Batch area, its possible to export a batch as an IIF file (Intuit Interchange File - ie the format that QuickBooks Desktop can natively import). In examining the IIF file, there is a field called "class" , but there is never any data there.

The class/subclass feature in QuickBooks Desktop is a very popular feature. How involved would it be to get CiviCRM-generated IIF files to include the appropriate class/subclass data?     Also where would the configuration for class/subclass belong in CiviCRM? Within the Financial Type configurations? A new field on Contributions/PriceSet field options?

At the recent CiviCon in San Francisco, it seemed like other organizations using CiviCRM and QuickBooks Desktop need the support for class/subclass data in the IIF file.

Have you found out anything more about classes/subclasses for QuickBooks? I have also noticed that the field for CLASS in the IIF file is empty. There must be a way to program CiviCRM to export that information. I have a client that desperately needs this functionality.
