Understanding 'assign case role'
May 29, 2014, 10:43:43 am
I'm not understanding what the CiviCase activity 'assign case role' is.

I've added it as an activity in my standard timeline, because I want the person creating the case to then assign it to a particular 'therapist.' However, while the activity shows up in the schedule of activities, it doesn't seem to do anything. There's no way to 'edit' it or to identify it as completed. It just sits there saying 'Scheduled.'  If I go up to the 'Roles' dropdown, I can assign the therapist role to Dr Roberts, but this seems unrelated to the 'assign case role' in the standard timeline.

Likewise if I select 'assign case role' as a new activity, what opens just seems to be a generic activity with no way to assign a role. So I need some help understanding what that particular activity is meant to do and also how I would structure my standard timeline so that the therapist will be assigned and the 'initial consultation' activity will be next at bat.

Thanks.

As far as I know the 'assign case role' in a case is automatically used if you go to the case roles tab and assign a role to a contact?

So it is not an activity you assign to someone, you do that by adding an activity to a case that you assign to someone. The 'assing case role' says nothing more than that a case role has been assigned to someone
