CiviCRM Upgrade Taken
May 30, 2014, 04:00:03 am
Hello,

I upgraded my Drupal 7.28 - CiviCRM from 4.0.4 to 4.4.5 but did not get the message 'Upgrade successful', in stead it says 'CiviCRM Upgrade Taken' with empty [ ] and two buttons: Retry and Skip. Beside my website's header there is nothing else on the page ... What's next ? What should I do to continue ?

Kind regards,
Stefaan

This is a JS error. Try removing templates_c and try again.

Did you put back CiviCRM 4.0.4 first and make sure it works? That is what you should do. Make sure 4.0.4 works, then replace the CiviCRM code, then remove templates_c and then try the upgrade.

Dear Stefaan,

Sorry to hear you've had problems with the upgrades.

Did you:
a) take backups
b) do revisions in increments? For something like this you should go 4.1.x, 4.2.x, 4.3.x, 4.4.x etc

My notes from a recent upgrade - might save you some upgrade steps.

Hi Everyone, after a lot of trial and error:
I first reverted php to 5.2.17 and ran sequential upgrades upto 4.0.8 without issues.
It seems the upgrade to 4.1.0 is a little more difficult, getting errors on civicrm_settings (which I'm able to bypass using this forum ;-) ), but other error still popping up ... latest is a constraint error on INSERT INTO civicrm_settings (I assume it has to do with contacts marked for deletion, but will be looking into this at a later time).
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Stefaan
