couple of activity enhancements
June 02, 2014, 09:42:33 am
Hi

We're thinking about a couple of things around activities: firstly, not being able to assign a follow up activity to someone else seems like an omission and we think it would be useful. Lobo closed https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-6146 with new feature/won't fix. We think this shouldn't be too much work and have a client who would like the feature so should we write this as a customisation and submit a patch (would it get into core?) or would it be better as an extension? And have we missed some really good reason not to do this or something that makes it really difficult?

The same client would also like to do something which obviously is more difficult which is to be able to link the follow-up activity to the original or indeed to link any activity to any other with an activity reference field. This was discussed on http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Activity+Reference+and+Relative+Dates and given 40 hours and didn't get funded. Again should we think about doing this as an extension initially or if we came up with some of the code could we get this added to core? Or should we just resurrect that MIH and pay for core team to do it? The latter might obviously take some time to happen and they're probably more focussed on the next release right now...

Any thoughts?

DaveM
