Unit testing and custom fields

When the unit test system initialises the civicrm_tests_dev db, installing extensions etc., does it copy/recreate my custom fields and custom contact types?

I'm tempted to believe "only if the installer of one of the extensions being installed creates them" but wanted to confirm this.

Unit tests only run on an empty dataset of their own devising - would be nice to run on more complicated data but....
