4.4.5 install not completing on Joomla
June 05, 2014, 12:50:55 pm
I have downloaded civicrm-4.4.5-joomla.zip and I have decompressed this into the joomla tmp folder and have the "Install From Directory" pointed to the correct directory. When the install completes i see
CiviCRM
CiviCRM component files have been UPGRADED successfully.
Please run the CiviCRM Database Upgrade Utility now. This utility will check your database and perform any needed upgrades.

Also review the Upgrade Guide for any additional steps required to complete this upgrade.

When I click on the Database Upgrade Utility I get:

CiviCRM-001 - An error has occurred.
<div id="crm-container" class="crm-container" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <style type="text/css" media="screen">@import url(/administrator/css/civicrm.css);</style> <style type="text/css" media="screen">@import url(/administrator/css/extras.css);</style> <div class="messages status no-popup"> <div class="icon red-icon alert-icon"></div> <span class="status-fatal">Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.</span> <div class="crm-section crm-error-message">Version information missing in civicrm database.</div> <p><a href="http://my.dyndns-at-home.com/administrator/" title="Main Menu">Return to home page.</a></p> </div> </div> <script language="JavaScript"> function toggle( element ) { var className = element.className; if ( className == 'crm-accordion-wrapper collapsed crm-fatal-error-details-block') { element.className = 'crm-accordion-wrapper crm-fatal-error-details-block'; } else { element.className = 'crm-accordion-wrapper collapsed crm-fatal-error-details-block'; } } </script>

Return to Control Panel

I had to run a script that I downloaded to create the tables for the site.  I also ran the following command to set the version and it did not change anything.
 UPDATE civicrm_domain SET version = '4.4.5' WHERE id = 1;

What am I missing?

Database Version    5.5.37-0ubuntu0.14.04.1
Database Collation    utf8_general_ci
PHP Version    5.5.9-1ubuntu4
Web Server    Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu)

What exactly happened here? Did you first run a script to make the tables and then run the installer?

I first did the install and got the errors.  Next i found the table build script, ran that and got the same error?  I never saw anywhere to configure CiviCRM for the database or exactly what to setup in the database.  I think I got lost somewhere.

If you ran the install for the first time and saw:

CiviCRM component files have been UPGRADED successfully.

that indicates that CiviCRM was once there.

What I would suggest is that you:

1. Remove entirely all tables starting with civicrm_ from your database
2. Run the installer again

and then stop there and tell us what happened.

Thank you very much for your help.  Once I was able to get all of the civicrm tables removed I got the following:

CiviCRM
CiviCRM component files and database tables have been INSTALLED successfully.
Please review the Installation Guide for any additional steps required to complete the installation.

Then use the Configuration Checklist to review and configure CiviCRM settings for your new site.

Additional Resources:

Create front-end forms and searchable directories using Profiles
Create online contribution pages
Create events with online event registration
We have integrated KCFinder with CKEditor and TinyMCE, which enables user to upload images. Note that all the images uploaded using KCFinder will be public.

Have you registered this site at CiviCRM.org? If not, please help strengthen the CiviCRM ecosystem by taking a few minutes to fill out the site registration form. The information collected will help us prioritize improvements, target our communications and build the community. If you have a technical role for this site, be sure to check Keep in Touch to receive technical updates (a low volume mailing list).

Now time to learn this new system!

Everything installed as I posted previously.  Again THANK YOU!

Now when I go through the Configuration Checklist I get the following error on my page:

Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
DB Error: unknown error
Return to home page.

In my log file I see:

Undefined index: id in /www/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Contact/Page/AJAX.php on line 892, referer: http://my.host.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm

Please advise.

The error "alter routine command denied to user 'joomla'@'localhost'" means your MySQL user lacks sufficient rights. Ask your host to fix that.

Your last posting that you fixed it is not very helpful to others that are experiencing the same issue. If you remember and are able to, please post your fix. After all, we are open source community. We need to fully share our experiences especially on difficult bugs and conflicts. Thank you.
