[SOLVED] Mail component requires password at receivers end
June 06, 2014, 04:04:31 pm
Dear Community!

I run civicrm on a joomla 3.3 system and the administrator directory is htaccess protected. I want to use "mail tracking" so the url's are rewritten. When a user receives a mail the e-mail client is asking for the htaccess user and password because the link is pointing to:

http://domain.org/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=1&qid=6

Is there any way to avoid this - make it working - without removing the htaccess?

I am happy about tipps or hints for the detailed documentation of this function! What I found is pretty basic...
Thank you!

You can remove .htaccess password protection for the "extern" directory:
