Duplicate Name column in front-end search results
June 06, 2014, 09:08:08 pm
Using information gleaned from this topic http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,27575.0.html I was able to display a public member listing and search form in WordPress.

There are many problems, but I'll start with just this one: Why would there be two Name columns in the search results? The answer seems to be that Name is shown by default so you don't need to add it. But even if I set up my profile to not include the Name column in results, I still get a blank Name field in the detail view. And if I don't include it, how is anyone supposed to search by Name?

Note that "In Selector" in the profile field listing actually means "Results Column".

UPDATE: I worked around this particular issue by using separate First and Last Name fields in my profile rather than "Address Name". I show the First and Last in the search fields, but not in the results columns, because Name is already there by default and can't be turned off (I'll hide it with CSS if I need to).
