MyISAM workaround?
June 09, 2014, 07:45:38 am
I want to install Civicrm to test.... but:

Our hosting service only supports MyISAM... is it worth trying a find/replace in all of the source files for ENGINE=InnoDB and change to ENGINE=MyISAM?  I understand this may cause issues but if a developer could comment, that would be great.

No, CiviCRM requires InnoDB functionality so simply changing the engine to MyIsam will break CiviCRM as far as I know.

Erik is correct. In fact, CiviCRM won't even install if InnoDB is not available.

There are some CiviCRM specific hosting providers listed here https://civicrm.org/providers/hosting - Civihosting starts at $15 per month http://civihosting.com/features - not sure about the others.

I installed Civicrm with https://bitnami.com/stack/civicrm and that definitely worked around my issue.  ;D
