We're evaluating different membership software systems including CiviCRM.

Since we prefer being green, we'd rather not print and mail membership cards to our renewing members. However, local stores will offer member discounts and may need a means for verifying membership. We wondered if anyone in the CiviCRM world has implemented an integrated phone app membership card.

I don't know what they use for their membership backed, but AARP has a membership phone app with features that are very similar to what we have in mind.
