Absence Request Form
June 13, 2014, 02:15:57 pm
Is there a simple way to change the options in the Absence Request Form?  We use hours instead of days to quantify our leave time.  Do I need to make changes to /civihr-1.2.0/hrabsence/CRM/HRAbsence/Form/AbsenceRequest.php  or is there a more simple way to do it?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

There is not yet any way within the administrator settings to change the units used for Absence reequests from days (or half-days) to hours. No doubt you could try to hack the code yourself, but I have no idea how simple this would be to do.

I'll put it on my list of issues to include in our plans for the next version. Plans for version 1.4 are already finalised, so it will need to go into plans for version 1.5 - scheduled to be released by CiviCon SF in April 2015.

Would you be interested in becoming a development partner for CiviHR? We could host CiviHR for you (at no charge) so that you would not need to install each new version yourself, and we could involve you on a regular basis in our planning sessions.

Two things:

1.  Regarding the units of time for absence:  I think days is not a unit that will work for many orgs.  Many people, especially when using sick time to go to a Dr. appointment (or even when using vacation), frequently request 1, 2, 2.5 hours of leave time.  This can not be accommodated currently if the only available unit is days.  I understand fractions may be used, but it seems tedious, and in my mind, hours just make more sense as a default unit.

2.  I'd be happy to contribute to development.  In particular what I could offer is some insight into typical use cases that a small non-profit may have.

Hi Tim,

Sorry for the delay in posting a reply to you. I don't know how to customise the code myself, but would you be willing to put a more detailed explanation of your requirements onto wiki.civihr.org ? I could then ask the developers to build this into the next release?

regards, Andrew

Is there any place in particular within the wiki I should put any feature requests or use cases that need to be satisfied?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

I have created a page for you on the CiviHR wiki:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/HR/Tim+Fluhr

Please post your feedback here, and we will do our best to incorporate it into the specification for the developers.

regards, Andrew
