Auto Email Receipt
June 16, 2014, 12:22:21 pm
We have configured our receipting and thank you's so that when people donate with a credit card online through our payment processor they are automatically sent a receipt. This donation receipt has specific wording.

When we manually record check or cash contributions in Civi, and check the "Automatically email a receipt for this payment to " box, the auto receipt does not include our specific wording. They just see "Thanks for your support"

Is there a way to customize the language of the automatic receipt? Thanks!

( As a BTW, if you are still on 4.4.1 you should upgrade to 4.4.5 as there have been a lot of bug fixes since 4.4.1.)

I assume from what you have written that your specific wording has been added via the Thank-you and Receipting page when setting up your contributions page.  This only works for donations received online.

If you go to Mailings > Message templates > System Workflow Messages you will find templates for the emails sent 'automatically' by CiviCRM.  You will need to modify Contributions - Receipt (off-line) if you want it to include some specific wording.

To do this you need to know a little about Smarty and if you have more than one contribution type you will need to put in some conditional statements.
