CiviCrm 2.0.3 Installation on Drupal 5.7
May 08, 2008, 07:18:55 pm
Newby question

I am trying to install CiviCrm 2.0.3 on Drupal 5.7.

I was able to get to the installation page http://xxx/drupal 5.7/sites/all/modules/civicrm/drupal/install/index.php page. I installed CiviCrm in the right file, I verified the compatiliby of Civi and drupal with my hosting service and I created the Drupal database. But I am still get can error message at the installation page.

Civi Error
I can't create new databases and the database 'xxx' doesn't exist (user 'xxx' doesn't have CREATE DATABASE permissions.)
Can I access/create innodb tables in the database OK

Drupal Error
Can I access/create the database The database does not exist

This does not make sense because I created the database and gave the specified user full control.
Any suggestions that anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

check your mysql logs and see if a connection is being attempted etc. You can also check the install file drupal/install/index.php and try to track it down a bit more and get a more specific error message

Are you trying to install in the same database as Drupal or a separate database?

(I recommend using a separate database for CiviCRM, for easier upgrades, etc.)

This may be obvious, but I don't know your level of experience: Some hosts prefix the database name with your user name. So if you use a control panel tool to create a database called 'cividb', it may actually be called 'username_cividb'.
