We use Civi 4.4 on Drupal 6 for a membership organisation whose primary members are universities and their suppliers. They host an annual conference and exhibition.
My understanding is that organisations cannot register for events, only individuals. So our event registration is set up so that employees of supplier organisations register on behalf of their company to exhibit. Individuals register themselves as delegates.

However this means I am unable to see a history of exhibitor or delegate attendance at the Organisation Contact level. I know it is possible to pull a report or do a search but this is extra effort, and compounded by the fact that individuals leave the industry and their records are often deleted.

Can anyone give me some guidance to address the problem? (or am I missing something obvious?)

PS is it possible to 'deactivate' a contact record rather than delete it, so the event attendance and other history is not lost?

Thanks for the suggestion. My difficulty is not finding the information - Civi's functionality does that admirably. I was hoping to find a way to see a consolidated view of individual event registrations in their employers' Organisation Record (and not lose the event history if an individual's contact record is deleted)
