civiCRM joomla access
June 26, 2014, 12:20:03 pm
Hi, my account is in the manager group for civiCRM 4.4.5 and Joomla 3.3.1 but when I try to click on "civiCRM" on the control panel page, I get an error message and I'm unable to gain access. What would our admin have to do to allow my account to gain access?

I don't work a ton with Joomla, but it looks to me like you're trying to install CiviVolunteer as a Joomla extension rather a CiviCRM extension. Have your admin log in to CiviCRM, then head to Administer > System Settings > Manage Extensions (on some systems this menu item may be found under Administer > Customize Data and Screens > Manage Extensions). Installation can be managed there.

@developmenthrt

Please don't post the same topic in two different areas.  This forum is staffed by volunteers and it is a waste of effort if two people answer the same question.

I have removed the duplicate topic.

Civi Volunteer Install Error
June 28, 2014, 12:41:49 am
My Civi Volunteer version 1.3 say it is an installed extension on the CiviCRM Admin panel, but I can not see it any where.  It is green and enabled but I don't see it anywhere.

Here is the error I got after I uploaded the extension:  You will see it is enabled, but it requires permission which I don't understand what steps are required to give it the correct permissions.

Under "system settings"

» Enable CiviCRM Components  (Does not show up in the selection to add it to the CiviCRM main menu.)
» Manage Extensions  (It shows here as enabled, but now where else on CiviCRM to use or config this extension in order to use it.)

I am using Joomla 3.x

This question has been coming up on the forums a lot lately, so I've created a sticky for it: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,33396.0.html.

Hey, since you folks are using CiviVolunteer with Joomla and have run into this, would you mind testing out a proposed workaround to the Joomla-specific issues? More info.
