Amount not displaying on Contribution

Using Drupal 7.x and CiviCRM 4.4.5.

The amount of a contribution is not displaying on the contribution page as shown in the attached screen shot. The amount displays correctly on reports. I have only just noticed this matter and I am not sure when it first occurred.

Any help would be appreciated.

Worth checking what is happening on demo? Anything to do with currency settings?

It's OK on demo but I can't see what's causing this in my configuration. I'll look at the currency settings to see if there is anything that might cause this.

I thought the amount column would only show numbers, currency symbols and decimal indicators ( be they dots or commas etc).

Where does the "(single)" in the amount column come from?

It's an overflow of the event description which displays on a second line...
