Multiple Registrations and reports
July 15, 2014, 11:39:45 am
I know there are many posts out there on this topic, but I am unsure the best way to handle this.
I have an event and there is a single ticket price and 3 levels of sponsorship. Sponsorships all come with 10 tickets to the event. Individuals can also buy tickets for more than 1 person. At the time of the purchase, the sponsor or individual may or may not have the names of the other attendees. I would like to be able to get the total attendees without having to pull multiple searches on custom fields etc and add up the total- same with name tags- would like to have name tags printed without having to add the extras in by hand. I think I can use price sets for this but I am unsure how to. I am using wordpress 3.3 and civi 4.4.5. Thanks

What we do for the CiviCRM User Summit is to give sponsors coupon codes after they register (using the CiviDiscount module).  That way, we get all the information but they don't need everyone's names on the spot.  For extra tickets for individuals, you could do something where you add a text/numeric price field called "extra tickets".  You could do the same thing with the coupon codes at that point.  In both cases, you'll have to manually issue codes and/or have the potential for overuse of a code, but that's reasonably efficient and doesn't require anything custom.
You can find me at AGH Strategies.

Can someone please send me a screen shoot of a few examples of how they have set up registrations where you can buy a table, 1 ticket or multiple tickets- I am a visual person and am having a hard time doing it with out an example!!???

I haven't done anything like this but just wanted to point out (and you may or may not know this already) but price sets can be configured in such a way that when the user buys a "table for 6" for example, it will increment the participant count by 6, regardless of if they register 1 person or 6 at that time.
Andrew's suggestion of using a discount code to sign-up the remaining people for the table is a good one. He might have a screenshot to share, but either way I suggest you play around with it a bit more and let us know where you get stuck.
