PayPal Payments Not Generating Receipts, Memberships going to Pending

We are using Wordpress. We temporarily have the pay later option activated on our Membership page (http://tcbirthnetwork.org/join-txbn/). When somebody processes a membership that way it emails an invoice to both us and the member. When they use PayPal it does not, and sets the member to pending. Is there a setting I am missing?

I think I found that this is related to my Wordpress theme ref here -  http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,33591.0.html

Everything seems to function properly on a 2012 theme.

Hi there, did the link you referenced solve your problem? We're experiencing the same thing. We've updated to the latest version of civi 4.5.0 because we were experiencing the problem with earlier versions. We thought the update would contain a patch for this but the problems persist.
Just wanting to know if you had found a solution.

The problem is usually either a theme or the Paypal configuration of the callback url.

1. try "2013" or other default Wordpress theme.  I know it sometimes it hard to believe the theme is the problem, but you should check.

If that doesn't work, talk to your host. After much prodding, our host found some errors on our server that were stopping Paypal IPN from working. It was something related to just our one site, as another site on the same VPS server was working fine.
