I've been debugging and hitting a few walls. Send works fine, but bounce processing does not work. Looking at the issue queue, I do not see much activity. Has anyone been successful with this extension?

Somewhat. A few clients have it working well, others had trouble. If you've set up the webhook on Mandrill's side, you should at least be getting some bounces. However, if you're sending so many emails at once that you're using SMTP, you'll have a bunch of bounce events, and the processing seems to time out often with volume. My feeling is that what ultimately needs to happen is to replace this webhook approach with one where CiviCRM proactively looks up bounces. That way it could behave just like the regular system.

SMTP outbound works fine.
Webhook triggers, I've put some debug statements in and it is definitely getting to the extension, but none of the bounces are updating the contact. It's not been easy to debug and author has not addressed any of my issues - wanted to make sure it is works and that the problem is my config since this doesn't seem to be a popular module.
I was also hoping to use it for bulk mail and use the webhook to track bounces but one thing at a time
