Profile form submission fails silently

Using CiviCRM  4.4.3. on Joomla 2.5.17.

We have a profile form that had been working, but now fails silently. No PHP error log, nothing in the CiviCRM log. Just redirects to the home page.

How can I troubleshoot this?

probably can't help other than ask the obvious.
do you have debug on?
can you replicate on demo site?

CiviCRM debug?  No, because it is a production site.

Just now I turned it on very briefly and did a submission (which silently redirected to the home page). Got the Smarty debug console popup. Didn't see anything terribly enlightening there - suggestions on what to look for?

I'm assuming that the fatal error template isn't getting called, as I don't see anything in it that would redirect to the home page?

Hi there holmesg,

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Do you have any custom moxules or extensions? Perhaps they aren't as 4.5 compatible as they claim...

OK, I notice something odd (possibly).

In the source for the page is this:

CRM.url('init', '/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/example&Itemid=337&placeholder');


Not exactly sure what that does, but if I manually load it it gets a big fat CiviCRM error.

What should that line read?
