Membership Contributions do not automatically create membership -- Need Help!
May 13, 2008, 10:45:23 am
Hi,

I'm using Drupal with CiviCRM 1.9

From my understanding I should be able to perform contributions and membership sign up in test mode.

I've successfully created an online contribution page for membership and double checked against this page http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Configure+Online+Contribution+Pages+for+Membership+Signup+and+Renewal

I made a test payment through Paypal.
I've searched for the contribution by name and email in Civicontribute but can't locate it.
No record for membership has been created.
What am I missing?

I ran a live payment through and the contribution appears ok but no membership record has been created.

I've been through this over and over so need your help now?

Some of the wiki pages are a bit out of date. Not sure about that one.

Have you tried it on the demo?

If you can, upgrade to 2.0 is highly recommended.

Contributions and membership signups which are made in "test-drive" mode are assigned a "test" flag and are only viewable by using Find Contributions or Find Memberships with the "Find Test Contributions" or "Find Test Memberships" field checked. So that MIGHT be part of the issue.

Also, if you're using PayPal Standard - the transactions might not be completed if things aren't configured properly in your PayPal account and/or if your site is not accessible on the 'net (since PayPal has to "call back" to CiviCRM to confirm that the transaction was completed). You can research this by looking in the CiviCRM.log file which is located in the civicrm/upload directory under your configured Drupal files directory.

Thanks for the replies, just picking up on this project again now.

The payments are showing in CiviContribute ok under recent contributions but when I search for test results nothing appears. There is also no membership record being created.

I will go ahead and perform upgrade to latest version and see if it changes anything
