Current status of CiviMobile?
July 22, 2014, 08:50:47 am
Is the CiviMobile extension being actively maintained? I've got a couple of clients that are interested in some kind of access to CiviCRM contacts via their mobile devices (iPhones, primarily). Based on their needs, they don't need to sync contacts as much as they need to be able to find contacts by name or organization. As far as I can tell, CiviMobile requires CiviCRM 4.3. Has anyone tried it with 4.4 or 4.5?

It should work with 4.4 or 4.5.  I have not heard of that many people using it, but that doesn't mean that it is not being actively maintained.  I think your best bet is to download it, try it out and see if it works for you.

Reporting back on your experiences - what you needed and how it met or didn't meet those needs much appreciated.

Hi axon-obriend,

Perhaps the solution here is to create an iPhone friendly portal for them that lets them access the bits of Civi they want?

Unless, of course, they want to access *all* of Civi, in which case all power to them.

That was my plan, actually... I wanted to make sure I wasn't on a fool's errand. I saw on GitHub that the code has been forked a few times, too. I wasn't sure if any branch was "better" than another.

I did some testing. It does seem to work with 4.4.x, but not with CiviCRM 4.5. CiviMobile depends on a file in the CiviCRM base directory js/rest.js that isn't there in 4.5.

No idea yet what it would take to make it work... I'm rapidly getting out of my depth...

i would test and play around with it in 4.4.x and check if it meets you / client needs. If so, see if u can get the funding to upgrade the extension to 4.5. might be a wee bit of work (10 hours or so, if i had to guess)

It worked for us on 4.4 - but the postcode search was hard-coded to a radius that didn't make sense - which was fixable but the customer lost interest at that point.
