Ok... Thanks to aspagarino for that edited RSS feed code, it took care of one problem for me.

Currently though, every RSS module I have found is taking forever to update the RSS feeds. So it's not very dynamic at the moment.

After combing through these boards, I have to say there is a real dearth of modules for CiviCRM running in Joomla. I would have thought that these were things in particular that would be useful.

We have a contribution widget, but no other widgets at all.

I would think an events listing is well worth a module... this seems like way too many contortions for something as simple as an events listing. Drupal peeps get all the module love around here...  ;)

well, you can start solving the "dearth of modules" conundrum by contributing a joomla component for the events listing :)

For some combination of reason(s), we have a significantly larger drupal developer community. Not sure how to address the mis-balance. To some extent, i think it reflects the nature of the two CMS communities

Donald,

I been thinking about how to do this all morning.... if I do actually try to do this, (with miniscule php experience and little to no joomla module experience) I sure will post it!

Does Drupal have a larger extensions database than Joomla? How does the Joomal dev community differ in nature from the Drupal dev community? Or is that a different conversation?

From a CiviCRM perspective there seems to be a fair number of drupal developers involved with CiviCRM. The number of joomla developers are quite minimal.

This would explain the dearth in modules for joomla. I must say, modules are really powerful in joomla, and i would dearly love to see a suite of modules for CiviCRM for Joomla. Because when I say dearth, I don't think I've seen a single one.

well, you could be the trail blazer and provide the first module :)

If you are not a programmer, you can help sponsor the module(s) you are interested in having.

Well..not first module.  cough* cough*

Joomla Calendar (JCal Pro) for CiviEvent
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,67.0.html

It might be horribly outdated...but something that can be built on/converted/updated.
