BUG: 4.4.5, Joomla | issue with hook function naming

Joomla 2.5.14
CiviCRM 4.4.5 (not tested on other versions)

function civicrm_tabs( &$tabs, $contactID ) = Hook WILL work
function myhook_civicrm_tabs( &$tabs, $contactID ) = Hook will NOT work
