Manage postal address status with a "Status" field linked to each address
August 02, 2014, 04:51:41 am
Hello,

Case : The postal services are sending us back mailings due to uncorrect addresses or people moved away without telling us the new address. Consequently data is incorrect in Civi.

Need : Right now I can't find a way to record in CiviCRM an information saying "This address is incorrect" in the contacts' addresses block.

Suggestion : Do you think it could be possible to add a "Status" field for each declared address to manage this data.
Values could be for example "Not known at this address"; "Address OK"(by default)... and manage as customized list of options.

Thanks

Eileen

You can add custom fields to addresses - we've done this to record address status in the past

or you can add new Location types for 'gone no address'

so you know that that particular address was their GNA

and add their new one if/when  you get it

Thanks for your response. I'd rather use a custom field, it suits perfectly the need, except that if we extract the data from the db, addresses and status will be in 2 different tables, and it will require a quick vlookup - but's ok !!
Thanks this is great.
