Requiring a price set.
August 08, 2014, 08:49:26 am
Is there a way to require a price set and not the fields in a price set? Essentially, a user would be required to select one of the fields. I have a price set that has individual registrations, table registrations and sponsorships as the 3 fields. If I make them all 3 required, a user would have to choose an item in each list.

Does this make sense? Advice?

Thanks!
Shawn

As a non-coder my rather clunky work-around for this has been to make each field required after adding to each a "not required option"

Eg The individual registration field would include the zero cost option of  "I am not registering as an individual for this event."

I have used it with three fields before and not had any complaints.

However, I have had people confidently submit a registration where they have selected "not  required" for all three fields, not twigged to the fact that they didn't pay a fee, not read the confirmation/receipt they were sent that said " I have not..., I am not..., I don't want to..." and turn up on the day convinced they were registered for something.  (So I check for $0 registrations before the actual event.)

Also, my options have never been mutually exclusive, so a registration with positive selections for all three options was a valid registration.
