Contribute works only if user authenticated first in Drupal

I have the civi 4.4.6 integrated with Drupal.  If I'm logged into Drupal, then I can complete a donation payment using the Contribute module.  If I'm not logged in (anonymous), then the initial Contribute page refreshes upon selecting "Confirm Contribution";  I can't get past that first Contribute page.  I have not changed any settings, but did recently update software versions of both Drupal and CiviCRM.

Can you confirm that the anonymous user role still has the permissions CiviContribute: make online contributions and depending on what your contribution page contains some or all of :
  • CiviCRM: profile create
  • CiviCRM: profile edit
  • CiviCRM: profile view
  • CiviCRM: access all custom data
