cannot install,
August 14, 2014, 06:05:45 am
When i use "Upload a module or theme archive to install"

Cannot extract temporary://civicrm-4.4.6-drupal.gz, not a valid archive.

if i use "Install from a URL"

I get this "Cannot extract temporary://update-cache-1d0e52da/civicrm-4.4.6-drupal.gz, not a valid archive"

I thought at the beginig was a problem with the sourceforge link so i uploaded it to my site:

http://www.friasvelatti.com/D_SBX/tmp/civicrm-4.4.6-drupal.gz

same issue; then i tried anothe link  http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/civicrm/civicrm-stable/4.4.6/civicrm-4.4.6-drupal.tar.gz and i have as result :

SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away
PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away: DELETE FROM {cache_form} WHERE (cid = :db_condition_placeholder_0) ; Array ( [:db_condition_placeholder_0] => form_form-lvmpAi9gEW9VvzjFdXs-tRY36mtOi4mtkD2RoamucD4 ) in cache_clear_all() (line 165 of /home/friasvelattij/public_html/SBXD/includes/cache.inc).

completely lost  ???

What you should do is upload the archive to your site into the folder

sites/all/modules

and then unzip the archive there and that will create a new folder called:

sites/all/modules/civicrm

Then proceed to step "4. Run the Installer" of the install guide.

I'm having the same problem.  How do I navigate to where the files are suppose to go?

Hey Bkuhl,

The answer to that question depends a lot on your server set up.

Have you followed the instructions here?  http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC44/Drupal+Installation+Guide+for+CiviCRM+4.4+-+Drupal+7 Might want to do that and let us know at exactly what point you get stuck and provide more details.

You should also provide more information about your server (are you doing this locally, via a web interface, on a VPS, etc.)

I think it's because Drupal is expecting a .tar.gz file and not a .gz file.
