Exporting Contacts to csv
August 15, 2014, 08:01:49 am
Whenever i export contacts using the advanced search it gives me a .csv file. When i am doing an advanced search i sort the list by last name. The list that i export to a csv however is not sorted and is just randomly listed. Is there a way to specify how the list is sorted when exporting contacts to a csv?

Hi Mikem,

Probably not without some custom code (which I'd be happy to script for you!), but I have one question, why not just use a spreadsheet? It doesn't seem to me like this would be a big deal.

Cheerio

I agree i don't mind modifying the csv in excel. The admin users use this feature frequently though and want to export the list and then attach that file to an email without having to modify the csv file. Also if you are trying to export the display name it will only let you sort in excel using the first name and not the last name unless you add the separate fields (first name and last name) to sort in excel.
