CKeditor version shipped with CiviCRM, editor plugins
August 19, 2014, 07:08:08 am
In CiviCRM version 4.5 Beta6, the CKEditor is still at version 4.0.1.1 ( the same version used by CiviCRM 4.4.x)   The most recent version of CKEditor is version 4.4.3    Can/should the version CKEditor shipped with CiviCRM 4.5 be updated?

Also the CKEditor.com website has a great directory of plugins for the editor, many of which are part of their "full" package but are missing from the CiviCRM editor configuration. ( ie Center Align, Find/Replace, etc )  I have taken to editing the /civicrm/packages/ckeditor/plugin folder as well as the files: civicrm/packages/ckeditor/ckeditor.js  and civicrm/packages/ckeditor/config.js  Is there a better way to handle configuring the editor plugins? What I am currently doing gets wiped out whenever I do an upgrade to CiviCRM.

Sometimes apis change in new versions of packages, so upgrading requires testing. How much testing have you done with the new CKEdititor version and CiviCRM 4.5? Have you tried:
  • Popup forms
  • Inserting tokens
  • Inserting images
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

I have not yet tested a newer version of CKEditor in CiviCRM.   I will report my findings here.
