[FIXED] Activity Type & other screens 'off'
August 21, 2014, 05:15:10 am
In 4.5 beta 7 the 'Add Activity Type' button is off to the left with nothing underneath it, with the columns of data moved off to the right so that they disappear off the screen to the right (on mine anyway).  In 4.4 the button was over the top of the list of activities.

This also applies to 'Gender Options', 'Individual Prefixes', 'Individual Suffixes', 'Instant Messenger Services', 'Mobile Phone Providers' , 'Phone Types' and 'Website Types'.  Phew!

By the way, I am using a laptop with a 15.6" screen - this problem may not be so obvious on a large screen

I don't see it. Can you check on the sandbox site to see if maybe it was recently fixed?

Will do, but the sandbox is broken right now...  The one at drupal.sandbox.civicrm.org - maybe it's being re-built?

I'm seeing the same issue on my local install of beta7 using Firefox. It looks to be the case for all option groups.

Trying to reach the sandbox site gives :

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/webeditor/jenkins-node/workspace/buildkit-demos.civicrm.org/build/d7-sandbox/modules/system/system.install' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/webeditor/jenkins-node/workspace/buildkit-demos.civicrm.org/build/d7-sandbox/includes/install.core.inc on line 241

Hello,
FYI- I've tested with 4.5 B7 on WP (local install + sandbox), the "Add ..." button is well displayed on top of the list of existing values (gender, relationship type, activity type...).
Bug described doesn't seem to impact WP environment - Drupal only ?

I think it might be browser specific rather than cms specific. On Firefox the drupal version looks just fine to me.

I think you're right, but the confusing thing is that my Drupal version looks OK on Chrome & IE, but not on Firefox (31.0), unlike yours...

Most likely it's being caused by a typo in the markup which results in an unclosed tag. Quick, who'll be the first to spot it in your page source? (browsers will sometimes helpfully highlight offending tags in red, but I haven't found it yet...)

FYI - sandbox is (finally) back up. Screenshot from FireFox 31 on MacOSX looks ok.

Sandbox looks OK on Firefox 31.0 / Drupal as well, but in a different window on the same browser my apparently identical beta 7 test system shows them 'off'  !!  Same for the other screens I mentioned as well, all OK on sandbox but not on mine (or Upperholme's)

I guess the sandbox might reflect a few changes implemented since the beta7 'official' release?

I'm using the bleeding-edge 4.5 code and see the misalignment, too. It might be a difference in the themes -- the the demo/sandbox sites use a slightly customized configuration (e.g. with the Garland theme by way of buildkit's "drupal-demo" configuration), but my local site uses more defaults (e.g. the Bartik theme by way of buildkit's "drupal-clean" configuration).

If I switch my local site to "Garland", then the problem goes away.

Ah, yes switching themes triggers it. It's the cms stylesheet interfering with our own.
This fixes it: https://github.com/civicrm/civicrm-core/pull/3892
