Profile for mailing list signup requires user to log in to Joomla
August 21, 2014, 12:55:19 pm
We've recently installed Joomla 3.3.3/CiviCRM 4.5.beta4 and are in the process of configuring it to match our old site. However, the profile to sign someone up to a mailing list (group) is not sending people to the redirect URL but returning an error. See below:

http://brightondev.2020staging.com/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile/create&gid=16&reset=1

If you fill in the form, it does, indeed, add you to the mailing list group. However, instead of sending you to the redirect URL, it redirects you to the Joomla login page. If you happen to be logged into Joomla when you fill out the form, you get a 500 Layout default not found error.

Any solutions?

You need to upgrade to 4.5 beta 7 (or whatever is the latest when you read this).

Beta versions are about fixing bugs before a stable release comes out.   Beta 4 is more than 3 weeks old now and there have been 50 or so bug fixes since then.

If the problem still exists after the upgrade you should report it on Alpha and Beta Release Testing »4.5 Release Testing  forum board.

Thank you for your response.

In case it helps anyone else, I did actually find the fix to this. It was probably obvious: I wasn't including the full URL in the "redirect URL" and "cancel URL" fields.  Once I added "http://mydomain.com/" to the URLs, the profiles worked perfectly.

A simple case of not reading the instructions!!
